Yes, you can! And here is how:
So, a few people have asked me if there’s anything they can do to help their fav indie authors, so I thought I’d post about it because, even though things are going well for my second book, I’m going this alone so I need all the help I can get! LOL!
You’ll definitely know this but, REVIEWS! Reviews are the single most important thing you can do for your fav authors. They’re vital to get a book into the hands of other readers. Also, I LOVE them and I read ALL the reviews I get. Some are a little upsetting, but others are so encouraging that they’re really motivating when I’m having one of those days!
You might not know this one. I know I didn’t until recently, but, CLICK HELPFUL ON GOOD AMAZON REVIEWS! Most of the time, a reader will click the helpful button beneath a review that makes them not buy the book. That’s just what people do, and I’m sure I have in the past too, but that means that negative reviews show up on the reviews page first and make people not want to buy the book.
One of the best things you can do for your friendly, new indie author is click on one or two good reviews you find helpful and then the next person who comes along might read the book because a 4/5 star one came up before a 3-star. (This is especially important for liking on Goodreads as its a harsh platform, that’s for sure! There’s one 2-star review in particular that always comes up on the Sold to Serve Goodreads page, for example, because its labelled the most helpful so the 2-star always comes up first even though most the other reviews are 4 and 5.)
You’ll know this one but, WORD OF MOUTH! Recommending your fav books to your friends and family, or just in other Groups on Facebook, and social media is social proof that gets people reading them – much more than when I say my book is good (of course I’m going to say that, its mine! LOL)
Please recommend my books when people are asking for new books to read or if someone wants to read a villain romance or are looking for enemies to lovers or the many other things people like that fit my books. Every time I see my book recommended, I get so excited that someone has read something that’s come out of my head and then let others know about it and it means so much to me when people do that!
This is a big one you might not know, but …SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS! There are been a few times that I’ve been having a bad day (especially in UK lockdown) that’s been completely turned around because I got a lovely email, message, or post/comment from one of you. I’d love to hear what you think about my books!
Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated!
